http://findhere.ca is a Vancouver’s business guide with some elements of a social platform.
Being another Drupal-based project, this website nevertheless can boast some peculiarities that distinguish it from just another business directory.
Drupal CMS allows for social elements to be added inherently to any type of the main content, in this case – business listing. Therefore users can compile their business listings, add pictures, post their reviews and feedback on some entries, - all of these make up intrinsic features of www.findhere.ca.
The development process has taken the total of 36 work hours. The customer provided his design in a .psd file and the Yep!corp developer went on with slicing custom themes and making several new custom content types with the CCK (a Drupal module). Besides this, the specifications also included the creation of blocks for navigation, custom view for the listing, review and business listing itself, feeds for GoogleMaps and so on.
The most challenging part of the project was the integration of GoogleMaps APIs into different pages. The client requested that new listing and review should be shown on the map on the home page. In addition to that, he wanted the search results to be shown on the map when searching by category and location.
After the project is finished, and the customer receives his final product while Yep!corp get their payment, it is time to take a look at the visible and hidden benefits of the project. The apparent advantage of this business listing is that it features a custom-specific integration of GoogleMaps APIs and review-options that make it stand out from the rest of similar business guides and directories. And a less obvious but nonetheless an important gain for Yep!corp and our future clients as well is the fact that these features can now be easily implemented in other similar projects at a lower cost for our customers.
