The initial stage of our customer-provider communication lies within the principal of website grayscreen prototyping. It means basically the creation of one or a whole series of HTML/CSS documents that would represent the future website or application in function.
The switch from the usual technical specs to this type of planning stage has taken several successful efforts and projects completed well before otherwise expected time frames.
In practice the customer takes an active part in designing and developing the final concept of the website or app, as being presented with the so-called grayscreen prototype of the to-be project the client suddenly realizes that he has many more ideas and functions to add and/or to improve. And “grayscreen” here means the intentional absence of any visual design details – it saves a huge amount of time while preparing the prototype and leaves plenty of room for the buyer’s imagination to spin around. It has been proven by experience that people realize what they want better when they have a chance to touch (and in our case, to “click”) their future web project.
The key elements of grayscreen prototyping are the site’s content, structure and functionality. The design part belongs to the next stage. It should be focused on when one is through with the prototyping stage. At Yep!corp we concentrate a lot on rebuilding, improving and refining the prototypes. The customer is encouraged to introduce any of his views, ideas and corrections to the existing prototype at this stage. We even insert a special form for the comments to be added to every prototyped web page. Only after the grayscreen prototype has been amended, rectified, reviewed, and approved many a time, do we proceed to the next stage, which is design and coding.
As we have already mentioned, a prototype is a quick sketch of your web project, therefore you can expect to get the first “prototyped” variant of the project in very limited time frames. Yep!corp agrees that seeing is believing. With a prototype you can see everything for yourself.
